Introducing: Zeren Badar

Artist: Zeren Badar

Age: 46

Born in: Turkey

Based in: New York

Inspirations: “Take an object. Do something to it! Do something else to it”—Jasper Johns. I read this quote, when I just started creating art. It inspired me throughout my entire art carrier.

How would you describe your style?

I’m maximalist. My artworks are heavily layered, colorful and rich. I’m hugely influenced by Dada. I create odd juxtapositions.

I explore peculiar combination of photography, painting & collage.

Artworks are made entirely with pre-existent materials. My contribution is in making links, putting them together and taking photographs.

About your artwork:

The images you are seeing here are from various projects. They are created with found objects, food and found images. There is humor in these images. They are kitsch. They are new way of still lives. Each photograph has “Do it yourself” aesthetic.
