On the third day of Christmas my True Love gave to me... asylum in a safe country!

Initially called the International Relief Association (IRA), the IRC was founded in 1933 with the help of Albert Einstein. The International Rescue Committee originated as a response to Nazis taking over Germany; Its purpose is to aid victims of state oppression and persecution. Its initial goal back in 1933 was to assist germans sufferings under Adolf Hitler's government— and later the foundation went on to help people from Mussolini's Italy and Franco's Spain.

In 1942 the IRA merged with the ERC (Emergency Rescue Committee— a liberal American committee founded by Eleanor Roosevelt to help refugees) and finally gave birth to what we know was the IRC today; TheInternational Rescue Committee. This foundation has a rich history in helping refugees rebuild their lives in America, and to help vulnerable families caught in the world’s worst humanitarian crises.

The IRC provides help in three fundamental ways:

Safety

Health

Education

Today, more than ever, refugees need our help. People are suffering daily in the worst of human circumstances. One SIXTH of the world is hungry and does not have a stable home*. Every dollar helps— and in Trumps America, the IRC is for sure going to need every penny it gets.

Today the IRC is bringing help to the families of Aleppo who desperately need it.

IRC Mission Statement

“Now, more than ever, the IRC needs you. Make a tax-deductible gift to help vulnerable families caught in the world’s worst humanitarian crises to survive and rebuild their lives. Your gift will also help refugees welcomed to the U.S.”
